What’s better than awesome people coming together for a great cause? Uhhh… how ‘bout if those awesome people included legendary mo-town superstars Aretha Franklin and Al Green? And helped raise money for those who needed it most? On July 21 at the annual Spirit of Life Award dinner those two things culminated for one awesome night!

During PBA’s Beauty Week in Vegas, City of Hope honored our dear friend George Schaeffer, CEO of OPI Products, with a Spirit of Life award for his role as an outstanding philanthropist. This extravagant celebration included a wedding celebration (!!!) and musical golden moments with Aretha Franklin & Al Green (!!!!). The 2012 City of Hope Spirit of Life dinner and gala is a once-a-year event which raises funds to find an effective cure and treatment of diabetes. Though Schaeffer is known for his successful business contributions, he admits his “biggest achievement is having the ability to give back to others in need.” 

How heart-warming! We’re blessed to be a blessing to others and Schaeffer totally has that fact in mind. 

SURPRISE! Before Schaeffer was honored, he had a wedding! Totally shocker right? Schaeffer, who had an intimate marriage on 11/11/11 decided to officially tie the knot in front of his closest and dearest friends in the beauty industry. 

I also may or may not have freaked out when Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, performed for the crowd. She was the one who taught me how to spelled RESPECT. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Tell ‘em, Aretha! 

The legendary Al Green also gave a heart-warming performance and got the crowd on their feet!! Dance party, my favorite. 

And of course, some lovely drinks after all that dancing… Good thing I’m thirsty! Cheers to all those who give unconditionally!
