Apl.de.ap Presents Philippine World Music Fest: Filipinos Mean Business

On July 14, the Hollywood Bowl was overwhelmed with Filipino goodness. In collaboration with KCRW’s World Music Festival, Apl.de.ap took Los Angeles to the Philippines, bringing along some of his cream of the crop (honorary) Filipino friends  will.i.am, Nicole Scherzinger, Jo Koy and Vanessa Hudgens. From Apl.de.ap rockin’ the classic barong to Titas gettin’ crunk to “Bebot,” one thing was apparent: Filipinos mean business.

At the entrance of the event, so excited to witness the explosion of Filipino flava. Where’s my wifey, Nicole at?

Apl.de.ap started off the show, reminding us to “dream big and to take advance of opportunities.” Why yes, we must! From humble beginnings in Pampanga, Philippines to rockin’ out with thousands of Filipinos at Hollywood Bowl, it’s definitely true.

Taboo, showin’ love at the event. Let’s get it started (in here). Let get it started (in here).

Professional Boxer, Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr., came to celebrate with Apl after claiming a second belt at the Super Bantamweight Division by defeating Jeffrey Mathebula. On his way to becoming undefeated! Filipinos representing in every arena. Let it be known.

Martin Nievera ‘Concert King’ of the Philippines and Ogie Alcasid gettin’ silly backstage.

Wifey Nicole cheesin’ for me before tearin’ up the stage.

Lou Diamond Philipps, Vanessa Hudgens and Jo Koy sharing a “cheers” for this historical moment in Filipino music.

will.i.am looking uncomfortable next to Nicole when he knows she’s mine. it’s ok, you can have her for this pic, will. No biggie.

Mr. Filipino ballad-er Marin Nievera singing classic OPM hits. It’s like magic mic… except in person! And with thousands of other Filipinos!

The Black Eyed Peas reunited on stage, with Nicole as Fergie. I dig it. I dig Apl.de.ap’s barong even more. You can’t see it now, but we’re actually matching.

“Yo! You there! With the chicken adobo pan de sal. Why aren’t you sharing?!” said will.i.am

What a feeling! *will.i.am voice* oooo OOOO.

Chicken adobo and lechon kawali sliders as our snacks, ‘cause if you haven’t learned by the end of this post, Filipinos don’t play games.

Great night! Looking forward to all the awesome things this generation of talented Filipino-Americans have in store!
